1899-O Barber Half PCGS XF45/CAC

About This Coin

Charles E. Barber’s Liberty Head half dollar, introduced in 1892, represents the utilitarian backbone of late nineteenth-century American commerce. These coins worked hard in daily trade, making original, mid-grade survivors exceptionally difficult to locate today.

This 1899-O specimen from the New Orleans Mint represents a classic turn-of-the-century southern issue. While heavily circulated examples are common, finding an 1899-O at the Extremely Fine level is a different task entirely. Most were worn flat, leaving choice, original survivors highly elusive.

Graded PCGS XF45 and bearing the green CAC sticker, this piece represents the exact kind of honest, wholesome preservation that advanced Barber collectors prize. It is an ideal acquisition for a collector who appreciates original, mid-grade silver.
