About This Coin

Charles E. Barber’s Liberty Head half dollar, introduced in 1892, served as a workhorse of American commerce through the turn of the century. His design represents the classical, stoic aesthetic of late Gilded Age coinage, engineered specifically to withstand decades of daily use.

The 1912 issue comes from the final years of the series. Because these large silver coins circulated heavily, finding any Barber half that escaped significant wear is difficult. This PCGS AU58 example, further verified by CAC, represents the coveted "collector's grade"—offering the detail of a Mint State coin with only the slightest trace of friction.

For the collector who values technical preservation and historical integrity, an AU58 CAC Barber half is a highly satisfying acquisition. It stands as an honest, virtually uncirculated survivor of pre-World War I America, well-suited for a refined cabinet.

Series History & Details
