The 1916-D Mercury dime is the legendary key date of the 20th century, with only 264,000 struck. Split Bands (FB) on Mercury dimes indicate a full strike and represent the highest tier of collectible quality.
Grading Guidelines
Mercury dimes are evaluated based on the horizontal bands holding the fasces on the reverse. If the central bands are completely split with a clear recess between them, the coin is designated "Full Bands" (FB), justifying a high price premium.
