Key dates include the 1849-C, 1855-D, and 1875. The Type 2 design (1854–1856) features a small Indian Princess head and is notoriously difficult to find well-struck.
Grading Guidelines
Gold dollars require careful inspection under magnification due to their small size. Contact marks on Liberty's cheek and wear on the high points of the hair or wreath are the primary grading focus areas.
