Half Cents
Struck in pure copper from 1793 to 1857, the half cent is the smallest denomination ever produced by the United States Mint. Authorized under the Mint Act of 1792, half cents carry designs from Liberty Cap and Draped Bust to Classic Head and Braided Hair.

All half cents are scarce due to low mintages, but early dates (pre-1811) are major numismatic rarities, particularly in grades above Fine. Varieties are highly collected using Cohen (C) numbers.
Grading Guidelines
Half cents are graded based on standard copper coin guidelines. Surface quality is paramount; corrosion, pitting, or evidence of cleaning drastically reduce value.
