1829 Capped Bust Half Dime LM-7.1

The year 1829 marked the triumphant return of the half dime after a twenty-four year hiatus. Chief Engraver William Kneass adapted John Reich's classic Capped Bust design for this revived, smaller-diameter silver denomination, introducing a bead-and-scroll border that defined the era's federal coinage.

As a first-year type, the 1829 issue is highly sought after, and this example represents the LM-7.1 variety. Finding early federal silver in Mint State is a challenge, as these tiny coins were the workhorses of daily commerce.
