About This Coin
James B. Longacre's Two Cent piece, introduced in 1864 amidst Civil War coin shortages, famously debuted the motto "In God We Trust." By 1865, the second year of this short-lived copper series, the mint produced them in volume, yet finding choice, original survivors remains a challenge for the specialist.
