James Earle Fraser's Buffalo nickel (1913–1938) is one of the most iconic designs in American coinage — the American bison on the reverse, an American Indian composite portrait on the obverse. The 1937-D three-legged variety and early Denver issues are major keys. A beautiful series in any grade, and a collecting goal that rewards patience.
