The 1915-S Panama-Pacific $50 gold coins (both round and octagonal) are legendary, while the 1928 Hawaiian and 1935 Hudson half dollars are the keys to the silver series. Many issues had low final sales, making them highly scarce in gem uncirculated grades.
Grading Guidelines
Commemoratives are graded on the Sheldon scale. Graders pay close attention to original mint luster and look for friction on the high points of the artistic, high-relief designs. Proof-like surfaces and beautiful toning are highly prized.
