About This Coin

Christian Gobrecht’s Liberty Head quarter eagle represents one of the longest-running design types in the history of United States coinage. By the turn of the twentieth century, this classic design had become a staple of American commerce, blending mid-nineteenth-century neoclassicism with the industrial confidence of the early 1900s. This 1903 Philadelphia Mint issue captures the design in its mature, final years.

Graded MS64 by PCGS and bearing a green CAC sticker, this piece is housed in an early green-label holder. For the collector of classic gold, this combination represents a double layer of reassurance. The Choice Uncirculated grade is highly desirable for the series, where coins frequently saw heavy circulation.

With its verified preservation and historical placement at the dawn of a new century, this quarter eagle is an excellent representative of Gobrecht’s legacy. It is a handsome addition for any collector who appreciates the nuances of early PCGS grading.
