1878-CC Liberty Seated Quarter
About This Coin
Christian Gobrecht’s Liberty Seated design anchored American silver for more than fifty years, but the issues struck at Carson City carry a distinct Western romance. The 1878-CC represents the final year the frontier mint produced quarters, closing a brief chapter that yielded some of the series' most celebrated issues.
Virtually the entire output entered active commerce throughout the mining towns of Nevada and California, leaving the surviving population heavily worn. Choice Mint State examples are genuine condition rarities, making this PCGS-graded MS64 piece, confirmed by CAC, an impressive exception.
It is an essential, highly preserved coin for anyone building an advanced Carson City set or a dedicated cabinet of classic Gobrecht silver.
